I have an Ubuntu machine that I am using to develop PHP based web application. I now need to configure it so that PHP can send out mail. The default seems to be to install sendmail. However, I have seen comments that sendmail is overkill and some references to ssmtp. What would be the recommended way to configure this? Sendmail, ssmtp or something else?
