Hello list, With the EDOS project (http://www.edos-project.org), we're doing research on distribution of open source software (for our university, specifically, dependency management). My particular part in this is, at the moment, writing a parser that can read all kinds of package formats and output them in other formats. Someone pointed to your pages and I've incorporated the metadata format into my parser. However, I'd like to ask some questions: - I'm not very good at Python, but can your programs read APT packages? If so, how do you deal with alternative dependencies (i.e. something like "package A depends on either package B or package C")? If I look at the DTDs, the dependencies are managed in the RPM part, but RPM doesn't support alternative dependencies... - The examples and the DTDs are inconsistent with each other.
