I was using the group.xml style as described in
http://linux.duke.edu/projects/metadata/samples/groups-sample.xml

Interestingly - I just tried it as a comps.xml - and when I write it as
a comps.xml (with the small syntax differences) - createrepo works just
fine. So I guess it likes the comps syntax and doesn't like the
groups.xml syntax.
