Okay, I guess this is me being naive and not having seen enough RPMs. Yum copes with non-unique NEVRA which is the reason for the SHA/MD5 checksum being used as package id. I suppose this same reasoning was in effect when doChecksumCache was written. Anyway, thinking more about the problem, I wonder if a better solution isn't to base the checksum filename on path to the original RPM. j.
