Ok, I'll do so, after I'll figure out which are these "Fedora related" lists 
and where are these to be found. Although, I'm not putting too much hope in 
such attempt, because I did my homework and I think a ready-to-use solution 
simply does not exist (if that's true, then IMHO someone made a huge mistake 
with Fedora 5).

In the meantime, let's put it otherwise:

    Given 5 CDs full of packages and a comps.xlm, I need to create matching
    "hdlist" and "hdlist2" needed by system-config-packages, which I think
    contain package headers (guess this qualifies for "rpm metadata"?). How
    can that be done (any tools, file formats, procedure to follow, etc)?
