 cheers, that worked.  many thanks.  what was wrong,
what is the -e option for rpm (am very new to linux
still and do not use a lot of rpm based distros. 
mainly use Debian).

yes i use KDE as i find it much easier to work with
then gnome, but meh, thats just me.
