How far back does the repo keep old RPM's?

General question here for a total newbie here, but how far back does the centos repository keep its RPM's? For example, if a new version of cups-devel comes out, what happens to the previous version of the cups-devel RPM? Does it remain in the repository? Does it get overwritten? What if we have to revert back to the older version of the RPM? Thank you....
