How to install Yum in SUSE 10

I need instruction as how to install YUM and the caveats, if any, on SLES
10. I need to use SLES and there is no way I can live with YAST, where you
try to install, for example, subversion, and it does not know the package,
or an editor like NANO and it has no idea.
