This is on a CentOS 5.0 machine. I tried to run yum to search for php5-curl
and the following happens.

# yum search curl
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.

# ps aux --width=200 | grep yum
root 3773 0.0 78.0 2949520 2628188 ? S Feb12
10:26 /usr/bin/python /usr/sbin/yum-updatesd

# cat /var/run/yum.pid
3773

#

Shouldn't I be able to run yum from the command line even when the update
service is running. I haven't seen this happen before.

TIA

Thomas
