how to solve mutually conflicting updates?

I'm getting a catch-22 situation with mesa_libGL and xorg-x11-server-Xorg.

The conflicts are solved by the new versions of each yet the yum update 
complains that there is a conflict between mesa-libGL and the old 
version of old version of xorg-x11-server-Xorg.

What is the best way to solve this?
