Thanks James for your response. Below are the rpm levels on python and
sqlite rpms on the SLES 10 zlinux s390x server.
>From searching Novell's website, I cannot find newer rpm levels for
python-sqlite, sqlite and python.
If you can tell me the minimum levels for the prerequisite rpms for
yum-3.2.0 to work, I can open a Novell service request to ask if Novell
has these
prerequisite rpms available for download. Then I can determine if
possible for SLES 10 or SLES 11 to run yum-3.2.0.

rpm -qa|grep python
python-elementtree-1.2.6-18.4
python-tk-2.4.2-18.7
libxml2-python-2.6.23-15.5.3
python-sqlite-1.1.6-17.4
python-devel-2.4.2-18.7
python-iniparse-0.2.4-3.5
python-urlgrabber-2.9.7-15.4.1
rpm-python-4.4.2-43.19
python-2.4.2-18.13
dbus-1-python-0.60-33.20.3
python-setuptools-0.6c9-5.10

rpm -qa|grep sqlite
sqlite-3.2.8-15.2
sqlite-32bit-3.2.8-15.2
python-sqlite-1.1.6-17.4
sqlite-devel-3.2.8-15.2

Here is the yum-3.2.0 yum.spec file content that does not have higher
levels for python-sqlite and shows python of >- 2.4.
BuildRequires: python
BuildRequires: gettext
Requires: python >= 2.4
Requires: rpm-python, rpm >= 0:4.4.2
Requires: python-sqlite
Requires: urlgrabber
Requires: python-elementtree
Requires: yum-metadata-parser >= 1.1.0
