Cool. That sounds like a strategy I can use. Because rpmbuild always
provides the sourcerpm tag, so must the vendor. And the tag value can be
anything, as long as it exists, right?

Yah - I'll need to dig it out - but in general: What rpmbuild makes is
the 
specification. If they didn't make their pkg with rpmbuild then it gets 
exciting.
