Re: Renew release in Mandriva!

Hi,

The apt-get wrapper is very old. It has a major issue: this is the
notifaction about restart a service when the rsbac setting are restore.
This can lead to not allow anymore on SSH service to login until the
service was restarted.
On remote Server its has to very carefully to allways have a second or
third ssh connection open, so it can restart the SSH service to keep the
admin happy :). 
I had wrote a small python script which does with help off the libary
libnotify does an observation on an given directory e.g /var/run to look
if there appears a changing while the upgrade process.
But there is a incompatibiliy from pythons libnotify on different
distributions. I tested it on debian and gentoo.
So maybe there be a smarter solution with the rsbac system itself.
Usally the rsbac regconize if there is chaning on the inode. So if there
a modus while the upgrade time which wrote all filenames in a temporary
file and the script look into this file and restart this services again
it should be the best way in my thinking now.
The technical problems which could appears should befor cleared out in a
talk.
