Try creating a user on the sentinix box, and a home directory for that user, then ftp to the sentinix box using the new user. If that doesn't work you could always ssh to the sentinix box then ftp to an ftp server and "get" files if all you need to do is load files to the sentinix box.
 About the cacti .8.5, did that come as part of the sentinix cd or did you download it from cacti and then install it? I had problems with cacti .8.3a, the stock cacti on thr .70.5 sentinix cd so I down loaded the .8.5 from cacti and had problems with that also. I found .8.4 on sentinix's ftp download site and that fixed the problems I was having with using snmp to detect and graph used hard drive space on mounted AIX partitions. It's funny how the .8.4 cacti version is not mentioned on the sentinix site at all...
