Hi,

We are very happy to announce "Debian Edu Squeeze 6.0.4 rc2", as we
believe this is very close to what we will release as r0 soon! See
below for rc3 and 6.0.4 r0 release schedules!

Debian Edu aka Skolelinux is a Linux distribution based on Debian
providing an out-of-the box environment of a completely configured
school network. It contains setup for a school server, PXE booting for
diskless machines, setup for installing stationary workstations and
setup for workstations that can be taken away from the school network.

Several educational applications like celestia, drgeo, gcompris,
geogebra, kalzium, kgeography solfege and kgeography are included in
the default desktop setup.

- Please note that this manual has been translated to various
languages.

Those who already are using rc1 can upgrade to this version using
apt-get upgrade. Users upgrading from beta3 must make sure to keep the
existing gosa.conf file for everything to keep working as expected
when dpkg ask how to handle the changed file during upgrade.

2012-03-04: release rc3
2012-03-11: release Debian Edu (r0) Squeeze 6.0.4=20
2012-03-25: r0 rc1
2012-04-01: release Debian Edu (r1) Squeeze 6.0.4=20

We might decide to aim for March 31st for edu r1, if you don't take
this serious ;-p

Changes compared to rc1 version

    * tasks/lang-fr (in rc2 only works for CD installs, will be fixed
      for DVD instals in rc3.)
    * freerdp-x11 is installed by default as RDP and VNC
      client. (Previously rdesktop was installed instead.)
    * Make backup system more robust in handling LDAP database dump
      and restart.
    * Improve handing of removable media on thin clients. Show desktop
      notification longer when inserting new media and provide an
      option to start dolphin when such media is inserted.
    * Make sure the Main Server + Roaming Workstation profile
      selection give an error, as this is an invalid combination.
    * The Debian Edu Squeeze Manual has gained a Danish translation,
      which is currently in preparation.

The following features are not working as they should

    * The RDP server set up on thin-client-servers gives distorted KDE
      desktop at least when logging in using rdesktop (#608195). This
      is a bug in the vnc4server package, and a workaround is to use
      the tigervnc server instead..
