What kind of LDAP binding do you need to do?  To just read info from
LDAP, anonymous bind should work.  What kind of information do you want
to read?  To check user credentials, you need to make sure TLS is
enabled on the LDAP connection, as password checking is prohibited on
non-encrypted connections.
