HI Rick, 

I've seen later that there was another discussion going on which finally
solved the issue.
That's maybe the advantage for all of us the non native English
speakers :)
/etc/profile.d/lang.sh is maybe the first thing to adjust after a new
installation when you use French or German as your first language.
There is also an option in lilo.conf if you want to use UTF8 in your
terminal already at boot time;
