This is as far as I understand it, your guess is as good as mine...

Oracle has rescinded Sun's community licensing, which means Oracle JRE
cannot be included in Slackware (or any other Linux for that matter).

As I understand it, efforts are underway to port OpenJDK to replace
Oracle's JRE.

Good question - I don't know about this one.

Maybe Robby Workman or some other Slackware hacker (they are reading this
list) can tell us more about it?
