PSK error in wicd-1.7.0

   You helped me resolve the shutdown issue and I hope you can help me
resolve this last issue: wireless connectivity between the Sony Vaio running
13.37/x86_64 with wicd-1.7.0 and the ASUS WL 520GC wireless access point.

   This issue seems common on several ubuntu threads but appears to be a
conflict with the default network manager.

    When invoked with 'wicd-client -n' from the command line, up pops the wicd
network manager showing our local AP at 100% right on top. But, when the
'Connect' button is clicked the network is not immediately attached.
Instead, I keep getting the error that the pre-shared key (PSK) password is
incorrect.

   Both wicd and the WAP are using WAP2 for authentification and I have a
14-character Pre-shared key (called WPA 1/2-Personal on the WAP). When I log
into the WAP and check, the PSK password is just what I set it to, and the
same as I enter in the client laptop.

   I downgraded to wicd-1.6.2.1 from Slackware-13.0/64bit but that made no
difference. I'm totally out of ideas since the authentification protocols
and passwords match on both ends of the connection.

    What might I be doing incorrectly here? This is the last hurdle in the
race to get this new laptop fully up and running.
