Laptop Connects to WAP, But Cannot Access 'Net

   This is a different situation, one I've not before encountered. On the
Sony Vaio (running -13.37/x86_64 with the 3.2.7 kernel), wicd-client shows a
connection to the local wireless access point and provides DNS servers in
/etc/resolv.conf, but will not load a Web page nor allow ping, traceroute,
or host commands. This happens at two different wifi hot spots.

   What might be missing when wicd connects to a WAP but the user cannot
reach a URL in a Web browser? With the wicd gui it's possible to disconnect
and reconnect to the local network but still not be able to do anything once
connected. I don't know enough about wireless networking to have any idea of
all the pieces. In my experience with other portables, if I could connect to
a WAP I could access the 'Net.
