   I assumed that -z means an empty string, but it's not working like that.
Taking eth0 down if the return string is true didn't work. Swapping up and
down in the script allowed me to run the script (as root) and bring up eth0.
Tomorrow I'll do a check on wlan0 at the coffee shop. No, it doesn't make
sense, but that's the way it's responding.
