   I'll do all your suggestions this coming weekend.

   The default 2.6.37.6 kernel did not have the proper driver for the Atheros
Communications Device 1086(rev0) wireless chip. I built the 3.2.7 kernel on
the Sony and that seemed to resolve the issue. But, perhaps only partially.

   Last evening I downloaded the 3.3.1 kernel. I might as well build and
install it to see if it does make a difference. Regardless I'll still run
all the diagnistics you suggest and post the results here as well as on
kernel.org if there's still a problem.
