  Thanks everyone for the replies, I found the answer I needed before I read 
your replies but forgot to say it was 'solved'.

  I found something in linuxquestions.com IIRR about ten minutes after I posted 
my question/original post and it said to simply make it a .bash_profile instead 
of .bashrc and to just place it in my /home dir. Works like I want now.

  Thanks again, and btw @Claudio - You're right, I only need three of those in 
the list and not the last two which could really mess things up if I forgot they 
were an alias, heh.
