   It shows lo and eth0 UP, wlan0 down. During boot wlan0 tries to come up,
finds no network, and dies. After booting, however, wicd-client shows 4
neighborhood access points. (I don't try to connect to them because they're
all protected, and I took down the wireless AP here and ran an ethernet
cable through the house instead.)
