Hi, Yea I saw quite a few people myself that jumped up to help Patrick. It made me proud to be part of a community that took the time and effort to do whatever we all could do for him and help as much as possible. My mom isn't a computer person, but she worked at the main hospital where I live, and she was friends with a lot of the doctors there, so after reading what was going on, I emailed Pat and asked him for some info and he replied that day with the info I had asked for, and I had my mom come check it out and the next day she went to work, showed the info to a specialist they're, and he agreed that he'd help and to simply let him know when Patrick got to Michigan. I emailed Patrick back with the details and was very very Happy to hear that his results had finally gotten back and they had started treatment that morning. My mom knew Slackware was a big deal to me even if she didn't quite know much about it outside of it being one of the distros I used at home. My mom knew that Slackware was a Linux distro, and that's about it, and she'd watched me do my yearly orders from the Slackware store and the FreeBSD mall which I do whenever possible. I've still got my Slackware shirts, the case pins which I love, and Slackware mouse pad. I've literally ordered basically everything from the store other than the polo shirt because I prefer tee shirts. I've done the same with the FreeBSD mall too, got the case pins, mouse pads, and every book they have. And of course the CDs. But yea at the time I was still living with my mom and every year I'd order a bunch of stuff with Slackware plastered all over it so she knew that this was important to me. I was not disappointed that Patrick found a doctor that was finally willing to do the things he needed done; I was just glad he was getting the treatment he needed. Though I'd have loved to have gotten to hang out with him at the hospital and gotten a chance to just talk to him in person, the most important thing was Patrick's health, so even though I wanted to hang out, I was glad he was finally getting treatment. If anything, you guys deserve a round of applause; I still remember the way that all of us came together doing anything we could, to try and help Patrick. Makes me proud to be a part of this community :-) I no longer live with my mom, but my Wife, is sitting at Her desk behind me, watching Hell Boy 2, on Her dual boot Windows and Slackware machine :-) Yes, I know I'm lucky; My Wife has been using Slackware longer than I've owned a computer. When I first moved into my Wife's apartment when we first started dating, my Wife's computers ran a mix of Slackware, Windows, and Solaris. And She uses Vi :-) Lol needless to say, She was running Linux and Solaris, She's a better coder than I am, and uses Vi, so I asked Her to Marry Me lol. -Allen PS; sorry if this email is top posted, or looks weird, I'm using a phone.
