damn webcam steals audio

As per the subject, when I plug in a webcam, it takes over and becomes my default audio device - not good thing when trying to play music, is there a way to stop this madness? This does not happen on opensuse - but I use gnome there. Venus USB2.0 Camera (0ac8:3420) if it matters. TIA
