It looks like you messing lilo that can display picture with menu and 
elilo that can not. elilo offers bare minimum in terms of boot menu 
visualisation.

Dunno about Triumph, never saw ones, but Caddys... they lost all authentic 
outfit they had in old good days, the only thing remains - gas hugry 
engine. Looks like they never give a s-it to ecology and stuff :)

I'd like to aviod using any heavy apps, but cannot learn mutt :) and use 
vim for configs and mcedit/mousepad for script-writing :D . But i already 
drop away Thunderbird, XFce, XChat/Hexchat. Alpine(w/maildir patch) i3wm
and irssi+bitlbee are my friends. But i still bound to Pidgin as
skype/telegram client, though :(
Kind of lightwalker now :) No bells and/or whistles at all, except desktop 
notifications - waiting for Dunst being fixed (it leaks memory and tend to 
stuck if catches few messages in parallel).

But returning on topic - i'd like to say that i try to avoid use grub-2 OS 
by eny means: i use syslinux, but still never use uefi/gpt stuff at home: 
one of my laptops do not offer uefi without secureboot, but allow to boot
in so called "legacy" mode, another - that is my workhorse - do not even
know what uefi is, so no problem occurs with it.

But i'd like to note that on my prev. job i use slack64 on uefi desktop 
with secureboot off and with elilo it boots well. Never understand what
for people like boot images...

P.S.
grub-1 (which is by mistake called legacy) is well too and works 
great and never fails as RHEL/CentOS-5 bootloader.

P.P.S.
32 bits still alive on my old dell e6400 laptop with 4 gigs of RAM!
