Dual-booting

My desktop/workstation is used daily for my business. It still runs
14.2/x86_64. I have a Crucial 500G NAND NVMe SSD M.2 currently in an
external case, and a bootable 15.0 on a USB flash drive.

I want to install 15.0 on the Crucial NVMe from the USB flash drive using
the two front panel USB ports. When I have 15.0 on the NVMe drive I'll mount it
on the ASUS Pro X470 system board and set /boot/efi to allow me select the
version to boot. Eventually, I'll get all my critical applications running
on 15.0 and can use this version for everything.

Reading the Slackware docs web page on admin/booting I learned that
efibootmgr should tell me the current boot sequence and how to alter that.
But when root runs that executable, nothing is returned but the shell
prompt. I assume that since /dev/sda1/ (/boot) is the only boot source it's
not recorded by efibootmgr. That web page doesn't tell me how to add to the
boot manager (only to change the sequence.) How do I add USB flash drives,
the DVD optical drive, and /dev/sda1 to efibootmgr?

I have instructions how to have elilo ask me whether to boot 14.2 or 15.0,
but I need to install 15.0 on the M.2 drive after booting the desktop from
the USB flash drive (and installing the M.2 drive on the system board.)
