What controls when /etc/cron.d/ files are run?

I have a short script to update TeXLive2023 in /etc/cron.d/. My research tells me this file should be run by /etc/bin/run-parts but I haven't found what controls when it's run. A clue stick is needed. TIA, Rich -- slackware mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/slackware
