Greetings:

I performed a kernel update on a RH9 server and saw this in the dmesg log & during boot. Thought I would notify you per the recommendation.

Message was:

IO APIC #3......
.... register #00: 03000000
....... : physical APIC id: 03
.... register #01: 00178020
....... : max redirection entries: 0017
....... : PRQ implemented: 1
....... : IO APIC version: 0020
.... register #02: 00178020
....... : arbitration: 00
An unexpected IO-APIC was found. If this kernel release is less than
three months old please report this to [email protected]

The box is a Dell PowerEdge 700, using the onboard Ethernet, originally configured 7/04.
Previous kernel: kernel-smp-2.4.20-8.i386.rpm
New kernel: kernel-smp-2.4.20-43.9.legacy.i686.rpm

I pulled it off http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/9/updates/i386/
We had to build a e1000 generic driver on the original install, as well as for this kernel, if that makes any difference.

Regards,
Bill
