Hi,

I have switched from ALICE to autoyast2 very recently and found the
transition not very difficult (for a human and re-developing
configurations with the yast2 configuration editor). It might be harder to
do that in software for automatic translation ALICE->autoyast2 config.
In general, I like the new system very much. However, some of the concepts
of ALICE are missing or not implemented with the same level of features.
- bootdisk creation is more tedious in autoyast2
- the concept of templates/classes/individual systems did not work very
well for me in autoyast2 (merging the same xml files did not always yield
the correct configuration file, the overwrite modes "replace", "before"
and "after" for tags are not implemented)

In general, I would like to know about SuSE's official roadmap concerning
these two products. Will they be merged together (which would sound like a
good idea to me), will one of them be dropped in favour of the other...
Many questions, that should be answered as soon as possible to make
decisions on how to plan future system administration jobs.
