Hi Sibil,

First, in YaST Control Center:

'Software'->'Software Management' module
     In 'Filter' (top-left) choose 'Selections'
     Verify 'GNOME System' is installed, or
     select 'GNOME System' and install

'System'->'/etc/sysconfig Editor' module
     'Desktop'->'Display manager'->select 'gdm'
     'Desktop'->'Window manager'->'DEFAULT_WM'->select 'gnome'

click 'Finish'
close YaST Control Center
log out (close session only)
'Ctl+Alt+F1' (switch to console tty1)
login as root
'init 3' (drop to runlevel 3)
hit your 'Enter' key to regain a prompt
'init 5 && exit'
log into desktop when prompted.

hth & regards,

Carl
