Re: DEC TZ88, AlphaStation600, SuSE AXP 7.1 and Kernel 2.2.19

I've had several tape drives (and tapes) die.  This is the error message 
I would get.  Maybe you can verify that they work on another machine? 
 UNIX/VMS?
