I have tested the tape drive on Tru64 and it worked very well with the
tar command. Connecting it to the Linux Box again the tar command
archived several files on the tape but then died again with input/output
error and /var/log/messages reported:
May 14 13:22:21 trilian kernel: st0: Error 26030000 (sugg. bt 0x20,
driver bt 0x26, host bt 0x3).

Is this a problem of the tape drive or the tape inserted? How can I
erase files on the current tape, so that it behaves like a clean one?
