fcntl() missing

Hi all,

I want to compile Samba 2.2.8a on an AlphaStation 600/266 but the
./configure process terminates with:
checking configure summary... ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba
would be unsafe
configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config

I am pretty sure, that problems relies in the following lines of
configure:
checking for setuidx... no
checking for working mmap... yes
checking for ftruncate needs root... no
checking for fcntl locking... no
checking for broken (glibc2.1/x86) 64 bit fcntl locking... no
checking for 64 bit fcntl locking... no
checking for st_blocks in struct stat... yes

It seems that fcntl() is missing. Which package do I have to install to
offer fcntl() to Samba??
Or is it another problem?

Some more information about the system:
trilian:~ # uname -r
2.2.19

trilian:~ # gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/alpha-suse-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (SuSE Linux 7.1/Alpha)
