alphaserver 1000 4/233 & milo

Hi Alpha-community,
I've found an old alphaserver 1000 4/233 I now want to play around ;-)

i copied the mikasa an die linload to a floppy and I'm successfull able
to load my milo .. but than trouble begins

having inserted the to hds ... he hangs while "spinning up sdb..."
removing sdb he hangs at sda ... whats going wrong there?
I can successfull boot windows nt ... so the discs seam to be okay!

removing all die hd's and booting the system with

boot sr0:boot/vmlinux root=/dev/sr0
hangs the system ... without even try to start linux ...

but simply using (for testing)
boot sr0:boot/vmlinux
works fine since the kernel panic according to the missing boot device :-(


has anyone any ideas?
