fine ...

I now have successfully
 - booted the system via cd using SRM
 - started the installation via ftp
 - started rescue-system via ftp
 - created partitions


but now there a still some small unsolved .. questions:
 - yast can not create partions or identify created partions, although
   fdisk does
 - using my local ftp (mirror) I can start the installation ... but
   later no package informations/listings/ descriptions can be found ...
   the software selection area is empty

   but: using a ftp client I can browse through the files on my server
   (proftpd on SuSE Intel 8.0 - files mirrored from ftp.suse.com) ...
   open the files ... etc

   but: using www.suse.com (which is very slow for me - just 1 MBit
   internet-connection) .. everything works fine ...
