I asked the same question a few months ago and didn't get any
responses.  Though I never did get 8.1 to see the Mylex cards of my
Alpha Server 2100, I did discover that the DACi960 driver in the Alpha
distro doesn't work (at least not with my 2.73 firmware cards).  I also
found out that the driver which comes in RH 7.2 Alpha (which you can
download from
ftp://ftp2.compaq.com/pub/linux/RedHat/7.2-alpha/release-isos/ and which
sees the DACi960 during install)  contains different code then the SUSE
version.  From what I could tell, the RH Alpha driver uses a different
addressing scheme for its memory usage. 

If you are interested, I could send you a copy of the RH driver and you
could take a stab at it.
