Installing Suse 8.1

Tried to install Suse-axp 8.1 on a Ruffian system (ux164) without any
result.
The system boots from Cd but goes direct to Yast2 and ends with the known 
message "not enough space ...."
Selecting " cancel install " starts now ( ? ) linuxrc where it is possible
to 
setup parameters for installation but at the end of the selection the system

reboots and ends up with Yast2 again.
No matter what is choosen the system cycles between Yast2 and linuxrc.

I have checked the archive but did not find any hints.
Before wasting to much time I would like to ask if any one has installed 
successfully Suse-axp 8.1 on an Arc(s)-system ?
