AS1000 bootsequence

Hi list!

I've got a AS1000 without any documentation and software. I want to change
from the installed true64 to suse-axp-linux. But: The former owner of this
machine has set the bootsequence to '...boot from hdd direct ...' !!
So - when the AS1000 is booting I tried several times to press ctrl-c (as I
found some entries in the lists archive) to stop booting for entering the
bios to change the settings.....
without success. Do I have to do some hardware settings like jumpers ??
