One further thing is the firmware version of the DAC960PD.
If you have one flash-socket free you have V 2.x. I thing it is, because all 
AS1000 4/266 i knew have this.
For V 2.x you will need the newest kernel 2.4.19, because Mr. Zubkov the 
developer added the firmware 2.x support a few month ago and SuSe 7.1 shipped 
only with drivers for V 3.x

If you a german nativ-speaker (denke ich wegen des Namens), please contact me 
direkt and i will search for my self-written description for managing a 
DAC960 under AXP.

P.S. I have knew 2 partialy dead AS1000 4/266. I think it is possible to sell 
"Spare-Parts"
