... have replaced the original java-core-files with IBM-JDK-118 ... after
this I was able to start the domino-server
without changing the language ...

That has nothing to do with rc.lang. If rc.lang has the wrong value, you
are not able to start your Domino R5 without getting an error message
similar to the following:
SIGSEGV received at bfffd62c in /opt/lotus/notes/latest/linux/libjava.so.
