You may update, but you don't have to do it. I have used Notes 6.0 Clients with 
several Domino 5.0.11 Servers without updating the mail database designs. No 
trouble at all. Personally, I'd even suggest to deliberately *not* update the 
template to 6.0, because (a) there is not really any pressing need to update and 
(b) I am not sure if there are any side-effects involved. Notes/Domino 6.0 
features new design elements, i.e. in the formula language, and it might be 
possible that some of these features are used in the 6.0 mail database template. 
If this is true, a 6.0 database could behave erratically on a 5.0.11 server. But 
hey - just guessing. ;-)
