Hi,

I will try that, but can it explain why the pc freezes in the initializing phase of KDE, so, without even having the opportunity to start the server?

In the mean time, runs anyone here Domino R5.0.12 (or .11) on SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional?
Please respond.

Hi,

try to run Domino without any additional tasks.
Edit the notes.ini ServerTaksk= and delete/remark everything like router,
replica, amgr adminP, event, Stats, http, ....

Then see what happens. Starting one task after the other you can find the
"crasher" .

Michael,

Thanks for your answer. My goal is rather small. It has to run for about 6
users of our development team and only for testing purposes. So my budget
is very low. The hardware is a 800 Mhz HP with 4GB+10GB drives and only
256MB memory. The other one I tried had 400MHz, 4GB+6GB drives (very havy
used and old ones) and 384 MB memory. It showed the same freezes.
I have installed the same software at home, the same way. This computer has
a 300 Mhz processor, a 40 GB drive and 384 MB memory. So apart from the
drive, it's no better. But this weekend I tested my Linux Dominoserver and
it ran without any problems for about 18 hours (then I needed it for other
purposes). At work it runs only HTTP and DECS, at home it runs almost every
service it offers. It definitly is not the software that causes the
freezing.
I suspect the drives. They are rather old, but I can't tell how long they
have been used.

      Hi Marc,

I´ve had the same problemwith freezing server and the only solve has
been to increase the memory ´til 2 GB RAM and reinstall the server
with SUSE Enterprise Server. Now the problem seemed to be solved.

      Hi,

I have installed Domino R5.0.11 on two pc's (HP's) with SuSE 8.0 (no
fixes). I have followed the instructions in Redbook Lotus Domino 6
for Linux + those in Lotus Domino R5 for Linux on IBM Netfinity
Servers. The first one describes the installation of SuSE 8.0 with
Domino R6, the latter uses SuSE 6.3 with Domino R5. So I combined
      them.

Both PC's freeze some time after configuring the server, with and
without a running server. I have only to login as the notes-user,
play around a bit, and ho... Once I saw 'interrupt lost on hdb', so I
have searched Google for that message and found out it probably had
something to do with faulty disks. So I took another PC with more
modern hardware. That PC is running for a week without any problems.
Yesterday I installed Domino (as root), and started the server for
the first time (as notes-user). It has waited a whole night and this
morning I have configured the server. After that the problems
      started.

Most times it freezes with the light of the hard disk on, but today I
saw it going dead without any light. Sometimes, when I reboot, it
freezes when KDE initializes. Until now it does not freeze when I log
      in as ROOT.
So, the problems arise for the Notes-user after configuring the
Domino Server and running it once.

NB / is ReiserFS, all the rest uses EXT3.

      Any help is welcome!
