Antwort: [suse-domino] One of our databases runs wild on SuSE 8.0

Dear Community,


sorry to bother again, but yesterday at about 12:50 PM the database crashed
but this time there was no fulltext and no replication involved.
Just our round about 150 users using the database and nothing else.

After we stopped the server we moved the corrupted file to some other
directory sitting in the same partition.

As one can see this file is a sparse file which uses not the space which is
suggested by the size.

I then gzipped it to bring the file to an IBM Affiliate but this procedure
destroyed the "sparse property" of the file as gzip reads the file from
start to end.

The workaround had been to destroy the faulty database and to create it
once again from a working replica.

After we've created the new replica and were in production again, we tried
to create a local replica from the faulty one in our test system.

The replication of the local replica produced this log output in the
replication protocol:

On top of that we did not manage reliably to reproduce the "ballooning
effect" in this database. If we were able to reproduce this ballooning
effect then we attached a GDB or valgrind to a test system to create a
backtrace of the error.

Does anybody have any experiences in reproducing this fault in Notes?
