Hello Marko,
I am not sure if this information could help but I have seen many
problems of mail stacking up from Domino R5x servers to the Internet as the
SMTP engine could not deliver many messages as the links are problably
slower than the volume they have to forward. This is true in my companies
Windows (know this is bad but it is a global standard) servers (we have
gateways in Americas, EMEA and APAC areas for redudancy) as well in a
colleague company running Domino over a cluster of Sun E10K.
The solution we both found was to have Domino forward SMTP messages
to another SMTP (Sendmail runs fine) in the local network so messages are
not stack up in Domino but in Sendmail, which can handle a large queue.
Best regards.

Hello all,
Do you have any experience with Lotus Domino R5.0.11 (on SUSE linux
7.3/kernel 2.4.18) in connection with GroupTools 5.2c (by GROUP
Technologies AG). We have performance problem especially with sending
messages (lot of pending mails in mailbox, which are released after domino
server restart). We also use Sophos Sweep antivirus system, which is called
from GroupTools.
Our HW: Compaq server ML370 (2 x Pentium 3 1.4Ghz), 2Gb RAM, 72 GB disks.
Regards,
Marko Bruderman
