Fatal Error 0xb denotes a "Bus Error", an exception usually related to hardware problems. There is an FAQ about another big application running into 0xb exceptions, namely compiling the kernel with gcc. It states that exception 0xb at random locations in the compilation process is most likely caused by memory problems. Thus, I'd get the latest instance of memtest86 and check that machine.
