startup script - bad interpreter: No such file or directory

I am trying to use the startup script written by Daniel Nashed, version
1.3.  I have copied the rc_domino script to the /etc/init.d directory and
the rc_startup_script to the /opt/lotus directory.

I added the following lines to /home/notes/.bashrc:
export DOMINO_START_SCRIPT=/opt/lotus/rc_domino_script
export Notes_SHARED_DPOOLSIZE=20971520

I made the following change to /opt/lotus/rc_startup_script:
NOTES_LANG=en_US

I am still using the domino-runtime package from SuSE to start Domino.
However, I am trying to test the new script.  When I try and invoke it I
get:
switching to notes
: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

When I switch to the notes account and run /etc/init.d/rc_domino status I
get the following:
: bad interpreter: No such file or directoryscript: /bin/sh

But if I type which sh I get:
/bin/sh

System specifications:
Domino 7.0.1
SLES9 x86_64 (kernel 2.6.5-7.257-smp)
