You misunderstood me. Our organization has 13,000 users, and yes, we also have
domino web access - which is a different subject BTW.

Having said that, smtp connections from the internet are never allowed to go
directly into lotus notes, as the notes smtp engine is too simple-minded for
our needs. We use postfix boxes up front to do all the sophisticated mail
routing, greylisting/RBL/sanity checks, the spam and virus blocking, in other
words, to do the "heavy lifting" and generally speaking to protect lotus notes
(which is a fine lan bulletin board) from the big bad internet.
