gwdg.de quite slow recently?

It seems that ftp.gwdg.de, the default server for fou4s, has become quite 
slow recently. Sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds or so for the download 
of the first patch info file with -u. This is quite noticable because 
fou4s first downloads it's own update info from gaugusch.at which happens 
instantly. Then it sits and waits ... Also downloads of "bigger" files (a 
few MBs) are noticably slow.
Anyone else noticed this? Any recommendations for fast servers (with 
Apache 1) in Germany?
